Shortcuts.
The Golden Rule
Just start typing. FiveDraft automatically identifies SCENE HEADINGS(if they start with INT. or EXT. or a dot `.`) and CHARACTERS (if typed in uppercase on a new line). Everything else defaults to ACTION.
Powered by our custom Ref-First Architecture, the editor bypasses standard React re-render cycles, ensuring zero-latency, lag-free typing even for 100+ page screenplays.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Cycle forward or backward through formatting types (Scene, Action, Character, Dialogue, Parenthetical, Transition, Note).
Create a new line. FiveDraft intelligently guesses the next type (e.g., Dialogue follows Character).
Instantly start a Parenthetical on a new line.
Toggle Zen Mode. Hides the interface so it's just you and the page. Press ESC to exit.
Open the Search & Replace bar to find and modify text in your script.
At the start of a line, merges content with the previous block.
